The 5-10 Club
People nowadays often fill their schedules so they don't have a minute to spare. But what if your pastor asked you for five minutes – five minutes a day for 10 days to pray for the church?
Pastor Paul Larsen did just that, asking members of Christ the King Lutheran Church of New Brighton, Minn., to join the "5-10 Club." Club members agreed to spend five minutes a day for 10 days praying that the congregation would move closer to the accomplishment of its mission.
Following is the invitation he sent, which included prayer starters, Bible passages and a heart sticker to place somewhere it will remind them to pray.

A Letter Regarding Secular Fundraising and Christian Stewardship
This is a letter in response to a recent email Secular Fundraising and Christian Stewardship which included portions from an email by Greg Bradshaw.
Sara believes whether we use the (secular fundraising) techniques or not, church stewardship committees should understand the techniques and how other people use them and why their church will choose to use them or not.
She also states: "I think that there is an underlying hostility to the people in the church who do give a lot of money."
She agrees that it is very important to say thank you.

The Bishop's Letter: Reflections on our life together in light of Grow The Vision
A quote from Bishop Jenkins:
"Louise and I have made what is for us a sacrificial pledge which shall take us five years to fulfill it would have taken longer but we started two years early. Let me tell you what we have found about attempting to be generous beyond anything we have ever attempted before. We have been tithers and a bit more for years. How could we do more? We discovered new means to fulfill the stewardship for which we prayed. I am not suggesting a quid pro quo or a necessary cause and effect. Rather, I am saying that not too long ago I wondered how on earth we might make a generous pledge."

A critique of "The Economics Underlying Stewardship: Creation and Distribution of Wealth"
In a letter critical of an email newsletter titled,
The Economics Underlying Stewardship: Creation and Distribution of Wealth, Ryan Anderson writes, ". . . look at not just the theory of that system (capitalism), but its reality. The reality is that our current system of global capitalism, while increasing the pie for some, continues to leave the vast majority of the world in poverty, and billions in extreme poverty. The very metaphor of an increasing pie is itself problematic."
