Thinking in terms of abundance rather then scarcity.
Be a Big Pie Person
By: Tim Sanders
I call abundance thinkers Big Pie People. They see the pie of life as big enough for everyone to get a slice. They're the ones that discuss possibilities instead of limitations. They approach every shortage as a creative challenge. They see the light at the end of the tunnel rather than the darkness that surrounds them as they travel through it.
We should all be Big Pie People. After all, we live in the age of abundance. The industrial era, when scarcity restricted growth and ruled decisions, is over--the basic unit of business value creation no longer consists of raw materials such as steel, land, and fuel. Today, the basic building blocks of business growth are bits, not bricks. Futurist Alvin Toffler calls this era "the third wave," or the wave of information. "For the third wave civilization," Toffler said, "the most basic raw material of all, and one that can never be exhausted, is information, including imagination. Through imagination and information, substitutes will be found for many of today's exhaustible resources."
