This is a summary of a report based on interview with over 500 persons on why they contribute generously to their church and other charitable organizations.

SIX REASONS FOR GIVING GENEROUSLY

1.  GIVING IS DOING GOD'S WILL
It is God's will for me to help others.

2.  GIVING MAKES SENSE
It makes sense to help my local community.

3.  GIVING IS FUN
I help make a better world and have a good time doing it.

4.  GIVING IN RETURN
I have benefited from my church and now I want to support it.

5.  GIVING FEELS RIGHT
It helps me grow as a human being and develop spiritually.

6.  GIVING IS A FAMILY TRADITION.
Giving is something my family has always stood for and I believe it
    is expected of me.
