Vacating Information

The residence hall contract is a nine (9) month contract. Residents must give the Housing Office thirty (30) days notice if the nine (9) month lease is broken.

"Notice of Intent To Vacate" forms are available in the Housing Office. If you do not file a vacate notice a full 30 days prior to moving out, your rent will continue for the following 30-day rental period. If another student occupies your vacated room before the thirty-day period has expired, an adjustment will be made for the period in which the new tenant has assumed the rent.

An appointment with the Head Resident must be made for checking out. This appointment must be pre-arranged with the Head Resident. The Housing Director and the Head Resident may revise this plan to expedite departure. You may be checked out Monday through Saturday and holidays, except Christmas and Easter. You or your representative must be present when the Head Resident checks your room.

Each tenant who is vacating is expected to leave the room clean and ready for the new occupant. Charges will be made against the breakage fee for any damages, repairs, or lost keys. Expenses will be charged to the vacating tenant for any extra cleaning done by the staff to prepare the room for the next resident.

Security deposit may be kept if check-in or check-out procedures are not completed within five working days. You will forfeit your full security deposit if you do not adhere to the vacate policy.
