Free Range Learning

For many of our online courses we are developing mini-lectures where our professors share some key concepts for the week. In many cases, these are great little videos of faculty in their offices speaking into a flip camera. We get to see the professors faces and hear their voices. Which can be an aid to learning and memory.

We also know from multimedia learning research that having clear visual images that are supported by audio explanation can have the best learning results (Richard E. Mayer, Multimedia Learning, 2009).  I have been wondering how we might do more with the visual imagery in our mini-lectures and came across this great little piece in Fast Company. It highlights a video of Dr. Hans Rosling who uses Legos to explain population growth and its global implications. What do you think, are there ways we could do the same kind of thing for theological learning?
