Submission Guidelines

If you are thinking of being a guest author for our blog, Free Range Learning, here are a few submission guidelines to help you with your writing.
What's the Blog's Purpose?
To share ideas about design and technology for learning
Who's My Audience?
The blog aims to serve anyone interested in learning and technology — this includes faculty and students, as well as staff. Depending on the growth of the blog, this may also include people outside the Luther Seminary community.
What Should I Write About?
Because the blog's purpose centers around ideas about design and technology for learning, we ask that your writing, in some capacity, deal with any or all of those topics. Other than that, the topic choice is, well, free range.
If you need help with ideas, the Learning Design and Technology staff is happy to brainstorm with you.
How Much Should I Write?
Remember, this is a blog. This is not a journal. This is not a magazine. This is a blog. Your audience (see above) expects short, scannable posts.
This means:
- Keep your posts between 200-300 words
- Consider chunking your writing by using lists (like this!) or short paragraphs
- Think about images. Can an image sum up what you are trying to say? (Just make sure you have rights to any images you use…)
- Use original content
- Incorporate links to other writings, resources, or web sites
When Should I Write?
Because you've agreed to be a guest writer for the blog, we expect you to commit to a month's worth of writing. We anticipate that this means one post per week or four posts for the month.
Who Can I Contact with Questions?
