In the spirit of my two colleagues' ( Dan and Ryan ) previous quirky posts, I figured I was due one. Apparently, the doll/toy that many women love to hate has gotten a new profession: meet Rev. Barbie . Unfortunately, not an official Mattel toy, Rev. Barbie was created by an Episcopal priest in Ohio.

Legos & Video Mini-Lectures?

For many of our online courses we are developing mini-lectures where our professors share some key concepts for the week. In many cases, these are great little videos of faculty in their offices speaking into a flip camera. We get to see the professors faces and hear their voices. Which can be an aid to learning and memory.

Google launched an amazing new application for Android platform phones today, Translate for Animals. Who knew that cross-species communication could be so easy. I hope they come out with an iPhone version soon.

My love/hate relationship with Comments

Bubble I have a love/hate relationship with the comments sections on the web. The more time I spend reading blogs and online news, the more I end up interacting with the comments. But I can't make up my mind; one day I find the ability to comment to be the most interesting thing to have happened to public media in a long time, the next day I find myself closing my laptop in dismay over the oversimplification and extreme hyperbole of so many comments.
