Filters

The process for importing citations found during a database search involves exporting or downloading your records into a file and then importing the file into your EndNote Library (.enl). Use the Connection Manager to choose the appropriate importing filter. A complete listing can be found at each vendor's site. Here is a sampling of some of the databases Luther Seminary subscribes to and which vendors we get them from.

EBSCO: Academic Search Premier (or you can search ASP from within EndNote), ATLA Religion Database (searchable within EndNote), Master File Premier, New Testament Abstracts Online, Old Testament Abstracts Online, Family & Society Studies Online.

OCLC: ECO (the archive for Electronic Collections Online), WorldCat (also searchable from within EndNote)

Selecting the correct filter will ensure your resources are in the correct format and will import successfully.

Filters To import citation data from a database search into your EndNote library it is important to choose the correct import filter so that data ends up in the correct fields. During the export phase of database searching you may be asked what format to save your citations in. Choose something like this: Save citations to a file formatted for: Direct Export to EndNote, ProCite, or Reference Manager. You may have the option to email yourself the file. To import the file File -> Import. Next a dialog box appears. Choose your file, then specify the import filter. This varies a bit. For ATLA use ATLA Religion (EBSCO); for Academic Search Premier (EBSCO) and ERIC (search on http://www.eric.ed.gov ) use Reference Manager (RIS). The citations will be imported to your EndNote Library (.enl). To make all citations appear, Ctrl + M

Contact Jennie, jbartholomew001@luthersem.edu , if you have questions about the correct import filter.
