Vision of the Western Mission Cluster
We envision a collaborative network of
institutions who are enabled through dialogue and cooperative planning
better to serve the mission of God in the world by nurturing the
spiritual life of God's people and thereby supporting their exercise of
their vocations in the world.
We are convinced that the vitality of the church in a rapidly changing and
diverse society depends on well-equipped lay and rostered leaders who are
growing and adapting to change throughout their lives. Such equipping requires
commitment to opportunities for lifelong learning that are diverse, flexible,
and accessible. (see the "Eleven
Imperatives," ELCA, 1993)
In order to
accomplish this vision, we seek:
- To respond to the perceived needs and goals of persons for life long
learning throughout the church.
- To provide enriching educational experiences for the strengthening of
faith and spiritual development and for the exercise of Christian vocation
in the world.
- To provide continuing education for lay and rostered persons.
- To enable dialogue and collaboration among partners in the development and
delivery of educational programs and activities.
