Serve with Shalom Hill Farm
The Care of Creation Fellowship was established in 2013 to provide a summer learning service opportunity for students from Luther or Wartburg Seminaries to serve with Shalom Hill Farm (SHF), an affiliated educational ministry, concerning care of creation education. The program enhances SHF’s capacity to educate and demonstrate care of creation for students from seminaries and other educational institutions, as well as the numerous other groups and guests that SHF serves.
The fellowship runs June 1-Aug. 10 (dates flexible). During that time, SHF will provide a food allowance and housing for the fellows at Shalom Hill Farm, as well as a stipend of $3,250. The students will be responsible for supporting staff in the care of creation at SHF – retreat hospitality, site maintenance, animal care, kitchen and housekeeping support, gardening, and a care of creation project that will be planned and implemented with support from the co-directors.
With the co-directors, fellows will read and reflect on Scripture, Culture, and Agriculture: An Agrarian Reading of the Bible by Ellen F. Davis, and develop some artifact of their experience.
The Care of Creation Fellowship at Shalom Hill Farm provides the opportunity to develop a deeper understanding of care of creation in a rural context. The fellows will develop skills and experiences around retreat hospitality and farm living and complete a care of creation project.
