{"id":1298,"date":"2020-01-29T14:11:47","date_gmt":"2020-01-29T14:11:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.luthersem.edu\/admissions\/?page_id=1298"},"modified":"2025-11-26T15:31:02","modified_gmt":"2025-11-26T15:31:02","slug":"other-scholarships","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.luthersem.edu\/admissions\/tuition-and-aid\/scholarships\/other-scholarships\/","title":{"rendered":"Specialized Scholarships"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>ELCA Fund for Leaders<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Luther Seminary Application Deadline: January 31, 2026<\/li>\n<li>ELCA Fund for Leaders Deadline: February 20, 2026<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Fund for Leaders is a mission of the ELCA to raise up rostered leaders for the church by providing four types of scholarships, including <\/span><b>full-tuition scholarships<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> to the recipient&#8217;s choice of an ELCA seminary to which they have been admitted. Full-tuition <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">scholarships are awarded to students for the duration of their required seminary coursework, provided they remain in good standing with their seminary and in their candidacy process.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><em><strong> Luther Seminary awards an additional $750 stipend for every course covered by the Fund for Leaders scholarship<\/strong><\/em>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Eligible applicants will be rostered-bound candidates (Word and Sacrament or Word and Service) who have been admitted to one or more <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">ELCA seminaries, will be enrolled full-time or part-time starting Fall 2025, and have received a positive entrance decision or have at least begun the process of seeking candidacy for rostered ministry in the ELCA. Recipients of Fund for Leaders scholarships may apply their full-tuition scholarship to any ELCA seminary that has offered them admission.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">How to apply:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.luthersem.edu\/admissions\/apply\/\">Apply to Luther Seminary<\/a><b> by January 31, 2026<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.elca.org\/our-work\/leadership\/elca-fund-for-leaders\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Apply to Fund for Leaders <\/span><\/a><b>by February 20, 2026<\/b><\/li>\n<li>Both application to Luther and Fund for Leaders requires you to have begun the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.elca.org\/candidacy\">candidacy process<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Have any questions? See the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.elca.org\/our-work\/leadership\/elca-fund-for-leaders\/faqs\">Fund for Leaders FAQ<\/a> and please don\u2019t hesitate to reach out directly to Fund for Leaders at <\/span><a href=\"mailto:FundforLeaders@elca.org\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">FundforLeaders@elca.org<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> or the Luther Seminary Admissions office at <\/span><a href=\"mailto:admissions@luthersem.edu\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">admissions@luthersem.edu<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2>Luther Seminary Service Scholarship<\/h2>\n<p>Incoming students with a completed year of service in the following organizations will be recognized for their exceptional contributions to the church and God&#8217;s world: Young Adults Global Mission (YAGM), Lutheran Volunteer Corps (LVC), ELCA Global Teach Program (J-3), or Urban Servant Corps.\u00a0 The scholarship will be awarded in addition to other Luther Seminary awarded aid.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Must have completed their service within five (5) years of entry date to Luther Seminary.<\/li>\n<li>Award is $1,000 per year for two years: $500 in fall term and $500 in spring term.<\/li>\n<li>Will be awarded to Graduate Certificate, Master of Arts and Master of Divinity students.<\/li>\n<li>Can only be awarded once over a lifetime.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>To apply for the Service Scholarship, please request that your\u00a0supervising volunteer\/program coordinator email\u00a0<a href=\"mailto:admissions@luthersem.edu\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">admissions@luthersem.edu<\/a>\u00a0with a confirmation of your dates of service.<\/p>\n<h2>Scholarships for Advanced Theological Education<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Th.M. Scholarship<\/strong> &#8211; All new Th.M. students are eligible to receive a full tuition scholarship.\u00a0 This scholarship will cover the tuition cost of the six required courses for the Th.M. degree. These courses must be completed in the first three years of study.
