Pilot program concluding with third cohort
MDivX was planned as a three-cohort pilot program. With the Spring 2021 graduation of the first MDivX cohort and the beginning of the third cohort, Luther Seminary has proven the success of this holy experiment to help the church reimagine theological education.
Luther Seminary is no longer recruiting internship sites for the MDivX pilot.
Diversity, equity and inclusion is an ongoing initiative at Luther Seminary. We have a growing population of diverse students and seek to build a culture where all students can thrive. In the site narrative portion of the application, please include examples of how your congregation is seeking opportunities for diversity, equity, and inclusion.
After you’ve completed and submitted your site application, the Contextual Learning office will contact you with next steps.
The Application
We suggest the following schedule to apply:
- Review the following documents
MDivX Internship Expectations
MDivX Financial Guidelines - Complete the 2021-2023 MDivX Internship Site Application
- Email your completed application, certification of Healthy Boundaries training within the last 5 years, and congregational sexual harassment policy to contextuallearning-mdivx@luthersem.edu
Interview Process
The Contextual Learning Office will review completed applications and contact you regarding next steps.
Interviews between potential MDivX internship sites and Cohort 3 candidates will begin in March 2021 and will be completed by early May 2021. Given the accelerated nature of the placement process itself, Contextual Learning staff prayerfully discern a sense of fit between interested placements and incoming interns. Potential MDivX placements will interview with one, or at most two, potential interns.
If a site is chosen to host an MDivX student, the Supervisor MUST fully participate in the MDivX Supervisor Training. For the 2021-2023 cohort this training will be conducted over digital platforms in a combination of synchronous and asynchronous learning modules. The synchronous modules will be Thursdays, May 6, 13, 20, 2021.
