Please join us at Luther Seminary on Monday, Jan. 18, as we celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. Day. We will reflect on the significance of Martin Luther King Jr.’s influence, as well as ways in which we can learn from and live out his legacy. This year’s theme will be Lift Every Voice.
We are living in an incredibly volatile time. Hostility and violence are becoming the norm. Racial tension and systemic injustice surround us How do we lift every voice in a time of such tension? As Christian public leaders, we are called to be a light in the darkness, hope in the fear and witnesses to the gospel in all that we do.
On Martin Luther King Jr. Day 2016, we will gather as a community to wrestle with these questions and find ways to act. We’ll also welcome Nekima Levy-Pounds as our keynote speaker. Levy-Pounds is a professor of law at the University of St. Thomas, a civil rights attorney and nationally recognized expert on issues at the intersections of race, public policy and the criminal justice system. She has a heart for the people and works toward achieving justice for those whose voices are often unheard within society.
We hope you will join us for this important event! It is free and open to the public. No RSVP is required. Click here to find maps and directions to Luther Seminary.
