July 21
Speaker: Clayton L. Smith, Executive Pastor of Generosity and the Church Foundation, Church of the Resurrection, Kansas City
Clayton Smith will give an overview of his new book, “Propel,” in a way that inspires churches to step forward the leadership of generosity. Smith will share personal anecdotes and proven techniques that will give churches of all sizes the tools to right-size ministries of giving and generosity for their own contexts.
Practicing Bad Stewardship: Jesus’ Reign and the End of White Supremacy
Aug. 18
Speaker: Drew G. I. Hart, Ph.D. student, professor, writer and activist
Drew Hart, theologian, author and former pastor, will explore the idea of white privilege and why it frequently fails to provide a robust framework which aids white people toward authentic repentance. While considering the significance of Jesus’ life, Hart will consider how a kind of reckless stewardship of whiteness can potentially provide an unconsidered path forward towards the new humanity in Christ.
