Faith and science intersect at this year’s Mid-Winter Convocation as speakers and workshops tackle themes like ecological justice, the neurology of faith practices, and even strategies on resilience for ministry. The 2018 Mid-Winter Convocation will be held January 24-26 at Luther Seminary.
Among the many offerings are plenary talks and workshops led by Luther Seminary professors Andrew Root and Alan Padgett.
- Bring the questions that you are asked by members of your church and the ones that you wonder yourself for Alan Padgett’s workshop, “Theology and Science: Questions Churches Ask.” This workshop features a presentation on the most common questions and a time of dialogue. Padgett’s plenary session will focus on a question, “Is Religion Dangerous or Just Plain Stupid? On Atheism Dressed-up as Science.”
- Attend Andrew Root’s plenary session, “Taking Einstein to Youth Ministry: Faith, Science and the Faith Formation of Young People.” Root also will give a workshop titled “Going Further” that will continue the discussion from the presentation.
