A second edition of New Testament professor Craig Koester’s book, “Revelation and the End of All things,” has just been released by Eerdmans Publishing. Since its first printing in 2001, Koester’s readable work has led pastors and laypeople alike through this compelling but difficult biblical text by engaging its context, genre, imagery, and history of interpretation.
“Revelation is a book that captures the imagination,” Koester says. “Songwriters and artists love its images of the Lamb and New Jerusalem. Interpreters are intrigued with its literary style. It’s a book that both attracts and disturbs. Popular treatments of Revelation can be sensationalistic and confusing. What I offer here is a way of reading Revelation that recognizes the way it both challenges people and continues drawing them toward visions of hope.”
In this second edition Koester examines recent scholarship and presents new insights and provides a response to the latest popular apocalyptic theories. The second edition also includes study questions that make it an excellent volume for use in Bible study groups.
