Jessie DeCorsey is the artist in residence this year at Luther Seminary where she is working toward an M.A. in Bible. A mother of four, she started Seven Day Creations as a family devotion in order to teach her children more about her two favorite things, reading the Bible and painting.
Here’s what she has to say about the process:
First we start by praying together and reading scripture as a family then we select some verses and begin our process with blank canvas. Over the course of six days the paintings rotate around the table to each one of us, Winnie 2, Arthur 4, Charlotte 6, and Henry 8, my husband Trevor 36, and myself 34. Each day we add shapes, colors and textures and the image transforms and evolves leaving a beautiful collaborative piece. At the end of our final day, I add a few touches to finish each work off. Then on the seventh day, we rest.
