Each year, gifts to Luther Seminary help prepare current and future church leaders with education and resources that are of vital use in their ministries. During 2011, Luther Seminary was able to use generous donor gifts in multiple ways.
Scholarships
The cost of seminary education is rising, as is the level of student debt. Scholarship support is vital to reducing student debt, allowing more students to say “Yes” to God’s call.
In 2011, hundreds of donors generously supported scholarships, making a major impact. So far during the 2011-12 academic year, more than $2.8 million in scholarships has been awarded. This accounts for approximately 49 percent of the overall cost of tuition.

Olson Campus Center Renovation
Over the summer, the Olson Campus Center renovation was completed, providing students an attractive new space for study and community life.
In the few months since the renovated campus center has been open, it has significantly strengthened community life on campus. Students now have a place for small groups of learning and discipleship, encouraging relationships that will strengthen their ministries throughout their lives.
Online Resources
Gifts supported online resources such as Enter the Bible and WorkingPreacher two sites that have global reach.
In 2011:
- EntertheBible.org launched Bible Q&A, a monthly discussion with Luther Seminary faculty that covers “everything you wanted to know about the Bible but were afraid to ask.” With 450,000 page views in 2011, Enter the Bible saw a 40 percent boost in traffic over the previous year.
- WorkingPreacher.org received 1.2 million visits from more than 200 countries and territories. A highly valued resource, more than 90 percent of users in a recent survey said they find the site very useful and nearly 95 percent said they have recommended it.
