“I think that every pastor we’ve had in some way has shaped our faith journey,” reflect Lee and Joe Mogen. “Each pastor comes with certain gifts that they pass on to you that you can learn from.”
Those gifts are the reason the Mogens give to Luther Seminary. They are continuing a legacy of support started by Lee’s parents, who established the Eidet Endowed Scholarship Fund after a Luther intern serving their congregation shared with them the challenge of affording a seminary education.
“I think it’s important to continue the legacy that my parents started,” says Lee. “I think it’s important to recognize that we’re a community of saints; for students to know that someone supports them both in prayer and monetarily, so they don’t have to make hard choices of where their calls are to be because of indebtedness.”
In addition to giving annual gifts to the Eidet Endowed Scholarship Fund, the Mogens have set up a planned gift to benefit the family scholarship fund in the future. They established a life insurance policy with Luther Seminary as the beneficiary, which will ensure that the scholarship continues to grow in years to come, even beyond their lifetime. This planned gift allows the Mogens to build on the foundation of generosity that was set by Lee’s parents, while leaving their own legacy in support of the church’s future pastors and leaders.
Leave your legacy
Like many Luther Seminary investors, the Mogens are members of the Heritage Society. This group represents a community of supporters who have made a commitment to the next generation of the church and its leaders through a planned gift. Is Luther already in your estate plan? Let us know so we can recognize your generosity!
