March 3, 7 p.m.
Olson Campus Center, Chapel of the Incarnation
Please join us for the inaugural Terence E. and Faith L. Fretheim Lecture in Biblical Theology. Walter Brueggemann, professor emeritus of Old Testament at Columbia Theological Seminary, will deliver his lecture, entitled, “Why the Old Testament Must Not Go Away.” This lecture will focus on the ways in which the church has tried to dismiss the Old Testament, and why it is important that we continue to engage with it.
This lecture series was established by Terry and Faith Fretheim so that students, as well as faculty, staff and surrounding Luther community members would have a chance to learn more about scholarship in biblical theology by leaders in this field. These lectures will focus on the theology presented by the Bible about God and how the study of God through the Bible impacts Christian theology.
