On Sept. 22, Dr. Walter Brueggemann, professor emeritus of Old Testament at Columbia Theological Seminary, will present the Fretheim Lecture in Biblical Theology, previously rescheduled due to inclement weather. The lecture, titled, “Why the Old Testament Must not Go Away,” will be held at 7 p.m. in the Chapel of the Incarnation in the Olson Campus Center. Brueggemann will consider efforts in the church to deny the Old Testament and explore what is at stake for the church.
On Sept. 23, at 9:15 a.m., Brueggemann will present “Preaching the Old Testament.” This lecture invites leaders of the church to recognize the theological lessons that can be gleaned from the Old Testament. At 11 a.m., join us for chapel, during which Dr. Terence Fretheim, professor emeritus of Old Testament at Luther Seminary, will preach. Chapel will be immediately followed by a conversation between Fretheim and Brueggemann.
A lunch buffet will be available on campus. Lunch is $10. If you intend to join us for lunch, please contact Lynne Moratzka at lmoratzka@luthersem.edu or call 651-641-3419. Payment will be taken at the start of the lunch.
