(Princeton Theological Seminary)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<h2>Biography<\/h2>\n<p>Amy Marga is Professor of Systematic Theology, and has been at Luther Seminary since 2006. A summa cum laude graduate of Concordia University, St Paul, MN (1995), she received a Master of Divinity (1998) and Doctor of Philosophy (2006) from Princeton Theological Seminary.<\/p>\n<p>She is the author of the book,\u00a0<em>In Her Image. Recovering Motherhood in the Christian Tradition<\/em>\u00a0(Baylor University Press, 2022). Her present research focuses on mothering and children in the Christian tradition. A selection of scholarly papers given on this topic include \u201cWhite Mothers, Black Mothers and the Bible\u201d (2016), \u201cThe Redeeming Act of Giving Birth: Martin Luther\u2019s Theology Concerning the Bodies of Mothers\u201d (2014), and \u201cChildren in the Theologies of Martin Luther and Karl Barth\u201d (2015).<\/p>\n<p>Her earlier research focused on the life and thought of Karl Barth and twentieth-century theology. She is the author of\u00a0Karl Barth\u2019s Dialogue with Catholicism in G\u00f6ttingen and M\u00fcnster\u00a0(Mohr Siebeck, 2010), the translator of Karl Barth\u2019s\u00a0The Word of God and Theology\u00a0(T&amp;T Clark, 2011), and a contributing translator to\u00a0<em>Barth in Conversation: Volume 1, 1959-1962<\/em>, (Westminster John Knox, 2017). She is also the author of several essays about Karl Barth\u2019s theology that appear in\u00a0<em>The Westminster Handbook to Karl Barth<\/em>; the\u00a0<em>Karl-Barth Handbuch<\/em>;\u00a0T<em>homas Aquinas and Karl Barth: An Unofficial Catholic-Protestant Dialogue<\/em>; and the\u00a0<em>T&amp;T Clark Handbook of Political Theology<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Her recent course topics include Race and Protestantism; Queer Theology; Global Feminist Theology; and Christianity, Conspiracies, and Christian Nationalism.<\/p>\n<p>Marga is a trained racial justice facilitator through the Minneapolis YWCA, and a member of the American Academy of Religion.<\/p>\n<p>She enjoys speaking on feminism, gender, race, mothers, and children in the Christian tradition.<\/p>\n<p>Saint Paul is home, where she lives with her two boys, two guinea pigs, and Mariah the poodle.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Education Ph.D. (Princeton Theological Seminary) M.Div.
