Dale Dobias has been the Director of Library Services for Luther Seminary since 2020 when he and COVID arrived on campus about the same time; cause and effect should not be assumed. Prior to the Luther Library gig he served for over 30 years in the library at United Theological Seminary of the Twin Cities. Grateful for the opportunity to help support folk\u2014both students and faculty\u2014achieve their academic goals, librarianship has been a true calling and a fulfilling ministry.<\/p>\n
Dobias\u2019 early life in theater and a decade of experience as a custodian provides him with a solid base for dealing with both the chaotic and the mundane that life throws his way. To his surprise he holds an M.A. in Theology from United Theological Seminary of the Twin Cities, and has nabbed an M.A. in Library and Information Studies from the clutches of the University of Wisconsin-Madison. An unrepentant life-long learner, he will soon begin a D.Min. program.<\/p>\n
With far too many interests to make a complete list, Dobias is an avid reader, and, perhaps to no one\u2019s surprise, has cataloged his home library. He is a Tolkien geek who would dearly love to vacation in Middle Earth; a collector of musical instruments, none of which he can play; and shamelessly foists poetry on his friends at every opportunity. The latter resulting in a delightful side hustle: Curator of the Gullixson Hall Executive Floor Magnetic Poetry Wall.<\/p>\n
He lives with Quinn the Wonder Pug, who grudgingly allows him to share the house; someone has to open the bags of dog food.<\/p>\n
