History of christianity

The Ph.D. in History of Christianity at Luther Seminary prepares students for research, teaching and leadership at the forefront of Christian thought from a historical perspective. Graduates will have a global mastery of the field in both content and method, including a working knowledge of research languages, that will enable research, analysis, and writing at a professional level interpreting the subjects and issues of church history and historical theology to the academy, church, and culture.

Areas of particular emphasis and interest on the part of our History of Christianity faculty include early church history, the Reformation, and American religious history, especially Lutheranism in America and Scandinavian-American religion.
