Now offered by Augsburg University

The classes offered by Luther Seminary's Lay School of Theology classes will now be coordinated and offered through Augsburg University's Christensen Center for Vocation. This partnership will help ensure that you receive the best learning opportunities to fit your needs and schedule.

Details for the 2017-18 program year courses are as follows:

Time: Noon – 1:15 p.m.
Location: Auxiliary Dining Room, Olson Campus Center, Luther Seminary (1490 Fulham St., St. Paul, MN 55108)
Cost:  $45.00 per 3-week series

Courses offered include:

  • October 2017 Series: Dr. Hans Wiersma, "Lunch for Luther"
    Dates: 10/18, 10/25, 11/2
    Description: The 500th anniversary of the Reformation is at hand. The lunchtime presentation and conversation will focus on Reformation breakthroughs regarding justice, freedom and vocation.
  • Winter 2018 Series: Dr. Mark Tranvik, "Vocation and the Myth of Retirement"
    Dates: 2/21, 2/28, 3/7
    Description:  Each week we will address a particular theme. The first week will be "Martin Luther's Vocation Revolution." The second week will be "Your Vocation is Over When You are Under." The final week will be "Aging Well and the Called Life."
  • Spring 2018 Series: Dr. Diane Jacobson: "The Promise of Grace in Life's Third Chapter: Exploring Aging Adventures in Biblical Narratives"
    Dates: 4/18, 4/25, 5/2
    Description: In this brief three-part series we will explore together a few of the Biblical narratives that center on folks in their third chapter of life with an eye towards grappling with current issues of aging. Featured will be Abraham and Sarah, Naomi and Boaz, Isaac and Rebekah, Zachariah and Elizabeth, and the Prodigal's father.
