Church youth from throughout Minnesota, Wisconsin, South Dakota and as far away as Montana took part in Luther Seminary’s annual Previews event this April. Teens with gifts for ministry identified by their pastors or youth ministers came on campus to get a taste of seminary life.
The event is a gentle nudge that helps some youth begin the discernment process for their call to vocation. Pastors who accompany the teens also receive encouragement. They learn how to identify and nurture young people with the potential to become leaders for Christian communities.
Previews is the brainchild of Dr. Paul O. Youngdahl, senior pastor of Mount Olivet Lutheran Church in south Minneapolis. The event has grown so much since its inception in 1996, it is now held on two consecutive Thursdays in the spring. More than 200 youth plus their pastors attend Previews at each session.
