On Dec. 2, 2007, Luther Seminary published the first set of Working Preacher commentaries.
Since its launch, the site has hosted nearly 20 million visits from 7.6 million users. Today preachers in more than 230 countries and territories find inspiration, interpretation and imagination on WorkingPreacher.org.
“I never fail to tell students in preaching classes and workshops that WorkingPreacher.org is on my very short list of first-rate online preaching resources,” said Dr. Tom Long, Bandy Professor Emeritus of Preaching at Candler School of Theology. He added, “Every week one finds an abundance of stimulating ideas to enrich faithful preaching.”
Along the way, the Working Preacher team at Luther Seminary added:
-
- Sermon Brainwave podcasts and Preaching Moments videos (2008)
-
- Dear Working Preacher column (2009)
-

-

Dr. Lucy Lind Hogan, president of the Academy of Homiletics, said: “I never work on a sermon without joining in the Working Preacher conversation. I count on the variety of voices, backgrounds, and experiences to educate and challenge me.
“There was a reason Jesus sent us out two by two, and with Working Preacher we go out with a great cloud of witnesses!” said Hogan.
More than ever, Working Preacher is dedicated to accompanying preachers who proclaim God’s Word in authentic ways.
Deacon Christie Meier, Trinity Lutheran Church in Tea, S.D., is a regular user and a recent supporter of Working Preacher. Although she had visited the site often, “eventually, I got to the point where I said, ‘Just do it! I’m not going to put it on my to-do list. It’s time to show my support financially.'”
Join Christie and give today at WorkingPreacher.org/10years to help this ministry grow for years to come!
