Dear Friends,
In a changing church and world, Christian leaders are called to step beyond the walls of our buildings and the boundaries of our programs to reach people where they are, as they are.
After all, we serve a God who isn’t content to watch us from a distance, but who craves relationship deeply enough to live and serve among us.
This kind of connected, contextual ministry is what drives Luther Seminary to live into our vision of faithful innovation for the sake of the gospel of Jesus Christ. It’s at the heart of our identity as an institution. And, by the grace of God, it’s what we equip our graduates to do and be in their lives beyond seminary.
In this issue of Story, meet Luther Seminary alumni, students, and employees who are doing just that. From ministry in the midst of hurricanes to providing vital services in a transitory Minneapolis neighborhood to the new scholarship program that will shrink the problem of student debt for emerging leaders, we’re proud of the way our community is reaching out in the real world.
I hope you’ll be as inspired by these stories as I am as we serve together to meet the needs of our neighbors—whoever they are and wherever they may be.
Peace and joy,
Robin Steinke, President
