Luther Seminary scholarship recipients and donors gave thanks together on campus May 10. Nearly 250 donors and students gathered for Blessings, an annual opportunity for donors of current scholarship funds, major contributors to the general scholarship fund, the students they support and merit scholarship recipients to gather for dinner and worship.<\/p>\n
“Blessings is an important event that allows donors the opportunity to meet the students whom they support as well as reconnect with old friends and forge new ones,” said Lynne Mortazka, coordinator of donor relations.<\/p>\n
This year’s program included a message from donor Sandy Jerstad, who shared why she continues to give. Her husband, Mark, was a Luther Seminary alum who died of colon cancer at age 54. His family supports philanthropy in his honor.<\/p>\n
Culynn Curtis, an M.Div. middler, offered thanks on behalf of students.<\/p>\n
“You understand what is the breadth, the length, the height and the depth of what is God’s love for the world. You answered the call to provide and made it possible for me to answer the call to ministry,” said Curtis.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
