From May 14-18, more than 1,300 pastors inspired each other to preach the gospel during the 20th annual Festival of Homiletics in Atlanta, Ga. Speakers included Luther Seminary’s Karoline Lewis, the Alvin N. Rogness Chair of Homiletics; and David Lose, the Marbury E. Anderson Chair in Biblical Preaching.<\/p>\n

The Festival of Homiletics is the largest preaching conference in the United States. Luther Seminary’s Center for Lifelong Learning worked with the festival’s founder, David Howell, to plan logistics and select speakers from the international community.<\/p>\n

“One of the greatest moments for me was simply worshiping on the first evening with 1,500 pastors who sang together in the beautiful sanctuary of Peachtree Road United Methodist Church–a glimpse of heaven,” said Sally Peters, director of the Center for Lifelong Learning.<\/p>\n

Luther Seminary is looking ahead to next year. First Baptist Church in Nashville, Tenn., will host next year’s festival, May 13-17, 2013. Registration opens Nov. 1.<\/p>\n
