The Centered Life<\/i> and Coming of Age: Exploring the Spirituality and Identity of Younger Men<\/i> are two new books by Luther Seminary faculty.<\/p>\n

In The Centered Life: Awakened, Called, Set Free, Nurtured<\/i>, by Jack Fortin, executive director of the Center for Lifelong Learning, debunks the myth that we can balance our lives. Through richly described stories and theological insight, Fortin provides for us a compelling and accessible case for a centered life–a life that begins to see the profound richness of our faith in the concrete particulars of our work, home, congregation, and community.<\/p>\n

In Coming of Age: Exploring the Spirituality and Identity of Younger Men<\/i>, co-authors Roland Martinson, Paul Hill and David Anderson share the results of an extensive study based on interviews with young men (ages 18-40) of differing life and faith experiences, and differing ethnic backgrounds in six regions of the U.S.<\/p>\n

The study focuses on 11 factors that have an impact on the spiritual journeys of young men and offers practical advice to those who provide ministry to young men in the church to keep them engaged in faith development and in connecting faith to life issues.<\/p>\n

Martinson is the Carrie Olson Baalson Professor of Children, Youth and Family Ministry. Hill is the mentor coordinator for the Children, Youth and Family Ministry Program at Luther Seminary.<\/p>\n
