Heidi Albers<\/strong> was promoted from the Office of Technology role of enterprise application specialist to business systems analyst II in November.<\/div>\n
Professor of Leadership Terri Elton \u201998 M.A., \u201907 Ph.D.<\/strong><\/a> gained an additional role in February as director of Faith+Lead Academy, where she oversees the development of noncredit digital courses for ordained and lay leaders beyond Luther Seminary\u2019s degree programs.<\/div>\n
Professor Emeritus Terence Fretheim \u201960 M.Div.<\/strong><\/a> died November 16. While he was still a student at Luther Seminary, he became a teaching fellow in Greek. During his 45-year career at the seminary, he served as chair of the curriculum committee, acting chair of Old Testament, dean of academic affairs, and Elva B. Lovell Professor of Old Testament.<\/div>\n
Mark Granquist<\/strong><\/a>, professor and Lloyd and Annelotte Svendsbye Chair in Church History, received a 2020 Award of Commendation from the Concordia Historical Institute for his book, \u201cA History of Luther Seminary 1869\u20132019.\u201d The awards are given annually to recognize excellent works in the field of American Lutheran history.<\/div>\n
Gracia Grindal \u201983 M.A.<\/strong><\/a>, professor emerita of rhetoric, released a collection of poems, \u201cJesus the Harmony: Gospel Sonnets for 366 Days,\u201d published by Fortress Press in April.<\/div>\n
Mary Hess<\/strong><\/a>, professor of educational leadership, coauthored \u201cBecoming a White Antiracist: A Practical Guide for Educators, Leaders, and Activists\u201d with educator Stephen Brookfield in April. She also presented a lecture, \u201cDigital Theologies and Pedagogies Amidst Pandemic,\u201d to Spurgeon\u2019s College in England in March.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Asher O. and Carrie Nasby Professor Emeritus of New Testament Arland J. Hultgren<\/strong><\/a> authored \u201cConfession and Community in the Letters of John,\u201d which was published in the Winter 2021 issue of Word & World.<\/div>\n
Craig Koester \u201980 M.Div.<\/strong><\/a>, professor and Asher O. and Carrie Nasby Chair of New Testament, co-edited the volume \u201cSigns and Discourses in John 5 and 6,\u201d published by Mohr Siebeck. The book includes essays by an international group of scholars who share research on the Gospel of John.<\/div>\n
Katie Langston \u201921 M.Div.<\/strong>, Faith+Lead\u2019s director of digital strategy, released a spiritual memoir, \u201cSealed: An Unexpected Journey into the Heart of Grace,\u201d published by Thornbush Press in April.<\/div>\n
Professor of Biblical Preaching Joy J. Moore<\/strong><\/a>, who assumed the role of vice president of academic affairs and academic dean in September, was celebrated at an installation service for her new position May 12. The day\u2019s events included a worship service, lecture, and panel discussion.<\/div>\n
