Mark Granquist<\/strong>, professor and Lloyd and Annelotte Svendsbye Chair in Church History, is the author of \u201cThe Other Luther Seminary in Minnesota: The Joint Synod of Ohio Seminary in St. Paul\u201d in the Journal of the Lutheran Historical Society, vol. 12, 2022, and \u201cRereading Niebuhr\u2019s \u2018The Kingdom of God in America\u2019\u201d in Word & World, Spring 2023.<\/div>\n
Anna Marsh \u201908 M.A.<\/strong>assistant professor of Old Testament, contributed the chapter \u201cWomen\u2019s Voices and the Cost of Going Public: The Song of Songs, Canonization, and Safe Spaces\u201d in the recently published \u201cReading the Song of Songs in a #MeToo Era: Women, Sex, and Public Discourse,\u201d edited by Elaine T. James and Simeon B. Chavel.<\/div>\n
Professor of Biblical Preaching Joy J. Moore<\/strong> is serving as visiting professor of religion and Chapman-Bensen Lecturer at Huntingdon College, Montgomery, Alabama. She began her one-year residency on September 1. During her residency, she continues to support Luther Seminary\u2019s mission through teaching an online preaching course, participating in Working Preacher\u2019s \u201cSermon Brainwave\u201d podcast, developing content for Faith+Lead, and supporting the seminary\u2019s Compelling Preaching grant from the Lilly Endowment Inc.<\/div>\n
Cody Sanders<\/strong>, associate professor of congregational and community care leadership, is the author of \u201cDecentering the Human in Practical Theologies of Care: An EARTH Method\u201d in the International Journal of Practical Theology and the chapter \u201cYour Story, Our Story, God\u2019s Story\u201d in \u201cTrue Colors: Stories of Baptist Inclusion,\u201d edited by Jake Hall. He is the co-author of \u201cLGBTQ+ Stress, Trauma, Time, and Care\u201d in Pastoral Psychology and the chapter \u201cInjustice and the Care of Queer Souls\u201d in \u201cInjustice and the Care of Souls: Taking Oppression Seriously in Pastoral Care,\u201d edited by Sheryl A. Kujawa-Holbrook and Karen B. Montago. This summer, he spoke on two panels at the annual conference of the National Association of Baptist Professors of Religion: a review of Jennifer Garcia Bashaw\u2019s \u201cScapegoats: The Gospel through the Eyes of Victims\u201d and \u201cBeyond the Academy: Public Scholarship and NABPR.\u201d He also was interviewed alongside co-author Mikeal Parsons for a Q&A article in U.S. Catholic about their book, \u201cCorpse Care: Ethics for Tending the Dead.<\/div>\n
Matthew Skinner<\/strong>, professor of New Testament, has been named the Asher O. and Carrie Nasby Endowed Chair in New Testament. The chair recognizes an exemplary teacher and mentor who inspires in their students a desire to lead their congregations in Bible study. It was established in 1995 by Howe E. Nasby to honor the memory of the Christian witness and service of his parents. Previously the Nasby chair was held by Professor Emeritus Craig Koester<\/strong>.<\/div>\n

In Memoriam<\/h2>\n

C. Dean Freudenberger<\/strong>, professor emeritus of rural ministry, died on July 2. He taught at Luther Seminary from 1990 to 1997, following a long and distinguished career as an agricultural and environmental ethicist. He was the author of three books: \u201cGlobal Dust Bowl: Is It Too Late?,\u201d \u201cFood for Tomorrow,\u201d and \u201cChristian Responsibility in a Hungry world.\u201d<\/div>\n
Roy Harrisville \u201947 M.Div.<\/strong>professor emeritus of New Testament, died on July 25. He taught at Luther Seminary from 1958 to 1992 and was instrumental in combining
\nhistorical-critical research with a confessional-theological approach. A prolific scholar and influential mentor, he helped many Luther Seminary graduates find success in ministry and pursue doctoral studies in both Europe and the United States.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
