Brown named 2026 Rutlen Lecturer"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On January 13, Luther Seminary will welcome renowned author and teacher William P. Brown to deliver the Rutlen Lecture on Faith and Creation, \u201cBe-Wilded by Wonder: Just Creation in the Book of Job.\u201d An ordained minister in the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) and a founding member of Earth Covenant Ministry, Brown serves as the William Marcellus McPheeters Professor of Old Testament at Columbia Theological Seminary. He has authored an extensive list of books, scholarly articles, and essays that engage the use of scripture in contemporary theological discourse and the ancient cultural contexts from which it emerged.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am personally excited to have Bill Brown as our Rutlen lecturer this year,\u201d said <strong>Alan Padgett<\/strong>, Northwestern Lutheran Theological Seminary Professor of Theology. \u201cHe is not only a top-class Bible scholar, but he is interesting and engaging to learn from and will definitely have important perspectives on the word of God to share with us. I know he will provide a solid biblical call for us all to join God in bringing healing and justice to our hurting world.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Robert William Ruotsalainen Rutlen and Elizabeth Jane Runn Rutlen Lecture on Faith and Creation is a biennial lecture series designed to examine the intersection between faith and eco-justice.
