Because the Affordable Care Act has increased the health insurance option for students, Luther Seminary no longer offers its own student policy. Instead, students have multiple options for obtaining coverage.
- As a covered dependent under a group policy of a spouse or of parents if under age 26;
- An individual policy purchased directly from a private health insurer;
- An individual policy purchased through the Marketplace at www.healthcare.gov;
- Medicaid or other governmental program if you qualify, based on your state of residence.
For additional information on coverage options, there are many online resources, including the following web pages:
The Office of Student Affairs will provide additional information as appropriate.
If you are not currently on a group plan, you can register for student insurance at www.eiiassip.org. Students taking less than a full-time course load and wishing to be on the insurance may also enroll in a plan.
Coverage begins on September 1 through August 31 of each year.
All international students are required to have adequate medical insurance coverage throughout their time in the United States; details will be communicated by the International Student and Scholar Affairs (ISSA) office.
