Medical Insurance

Because the Affordable Care Act has increased the health insurance option for students, Luther Seminary no longer offers its own student policy. Instead, students have multiple options for obtaining coverage.

  • As a covered dependent under a group policy of a spouse or of parents if under age 26;
  • An individual policy purchased directly from a private health insurer;
  • An individual policy purchased through the Marketplace at www.healthcare.gov;
  • Medicaid or other governmental program if you qualify, based on your state of residence.

For additional information on coverage options, there are many online resources, including the following web pages:

The Office of Student Affairs will provide additional information as appropriate.

Insurance

If you are not currently on a group plan, you can register for student insurance at www.eiiassip.org. Students taking less than a full-time course load and wishing to be on the insurance may also enroll in a plan.

Effective dates

Coverage begins on September 1 through August 31 of each year.

International Students

All international students are required to have adequate medical insurance coverage throughout their time in the United States; details will be communicated by the International Student and Scholar Affairs (ISSA) office.
