We are excited to announce that we will be moving to a new learning management system (LMS)
this Fall Semester and courses will no longer be offered in the "MyLutherNet" (Jenzabar e-learning) format. (Note: GTE students will receive information regarding the timing of this transition in a separate notice).
Key faculty and staff considered many options over the last several months and have decided to move forward with Moodle. Moodle is a leading LMS and is used by several local colleges and theological schools.
There are many benefits for Luther Seminary to move to Moodle - here are just a few:
- Moodle is mobile-device friendly.
- Moodle's calendar allows you to see important course dates at one glance.
- The discussion forum has a better text editor for more flexibility in formatting posts.
- The look and feel of Moodle is very intuitive. If you want to learn more, there are many resources online if you have questions.
We look forward to this exciting step to update our online and residential course offerings. The Office of Technology will offer some Moodle self-paced training and resources throughout the summer and fall. Our help desk staff will be able to assist with questions as well.
This video from Laurel Forsgren provides a brief overview of some of Moodle's features and how it differs from the current system:
