Student Information

What kind of Christian Public Leader student would be right for you:The kind of Christian Public Leader that would be right for St Paul Lutheran is one that seeks a holistic immersion into the life of a faith community that sees itself as a family to one another. And one that is seeking to be known in their local comm. for outreach and service.
How many students have you worked with in the past:none yet
How many rising students or seminarians do you work with currently:none
For this coming semester, what is the maximum number of students with whom you could work:1
What is the optimal length of learning for students working with you:2 semesters
Why would this length of time be best:I think a student would get a better idea of what a faith community is like and how they function together with at least two semesters in the same community.

Site Information

Site keywords:We are in the process of discerning how God is shaping us for service to His world. We are working on new ways in which we can partner with local org. to serve the Wyoming area.
What is your congregation or nonprofit organization all about:Our mission statement is "Sharing Christ' love with JOY!" and part of our vision statement is that we are known in our local community for outreach. We have been exploring what that actually looks like and the challenges that the Gospel places on us to live that out.
Please tell us a bit about your site:We are a 145 yr young congregation. We have a long history, a bright future and a great story! Call me if you want to hear it. We are a family to each other and know that God has a purpose for us in building His Kingdom.
Please tell us what a student can learn at your site:We have a vibrant youth program and adult Bible studies. We are continually exploring what being a Lutheran means for us in today's culture and how "being saved by God's grace" shapes us and calls us out. A student here would gain a broad understanding of what a solo pastor-ship looks like and how we are called to be a family to one another.

Mentor Information: Renee Patteson

Current position:Pastor
Please tell us a little bit about yourself as a Christian public leader:I am a second career pastor. I entered Bethel University at 43 and completed a degree in Organizational Leadership; then onto Luther Seminary. I am continually seeking leadership development opportunities and ways to improve my preaching skills. One of my pastoral goals is to help people discover and live into who God is calling them to be.
Please tell us a little bit about yourself as a mentor of students:Having a degree in Org. Leadership I like the quote from Ken Blanchard, “Leadership is a process of influence. Anytime you seek to influence the thinking, behavior, or development of people in their personal or professional lives, you are taking on the role of a leader.” So then a Christian public leader would be someone that does this but from the perspective of a Christ follower through relationship and service.
