What is your congregation or nonprofit organization all about:We are about immersion into the west Phillips neighborhood. We have a strong youth initiative and work to be a caring, beloved community in the LSS building called Center for changing lives.
Please tell us a bit about your site:This church community is 106 years old. Moving to the center for changing Lives was pivotal in their understanding that economic crisis is also a spiritual crisis and the church needs to be part of restoring to wholeness.
Please tell us what a student can learn at your site:You will learn about being church in an urban context with limited resources. You can enter the debate between charity vs. justice and discern the fine line between giving a hand up or a hand out. The theological issues surrounding race and economics in this the church.

Please tell us a little bit about yourself as a Christian public leader:MA in pastoral Care, Mdiv from LSTC I worked 23 at Honeywell in security systems. I have lived in many places in the world as a volunteer. I was pastor at River of Life Lutheran church 5 years and was a chaplain in hospice for 8 years. My vision is to financially stabilize this church community with vibrant worship and a dynamic youth/family ministry becoming a safe place for neighborhood youth to hang-out.
Please tell us a little bit about yourself as a mentor of students:I have supervised students who were interested in youth ministry. I tend to be a hands on supervisor who enjoys curious students open to learning new ways of being church.
