Student Information

What kind of Christian Public Leader student would be right for you:House of the Rock takes pride in being a place where candidates for ministry can explore their own unique gifts and be grown in a environment of creative energy, welcome and autonomy.
How many students have you worked with in the past:15
How many rising students or seminarians do you work with currently:4
For this coming semester, what is the maximum number of students with whom you could work:6
What is the optimal length of learning for students working with you:4 semesters
Why would this length of time be best:It takes time to develop gifts. All of us are part time, so it allows ample time for one's gifts to be sharpened. Many times, we will have students try out ideas to see if they will work - to help the kingdom and the student's own growth. We are happy to host, develop and care for the student as long as they would like to work with House of the Rock.

Mentor Information: Matt Simpkins

Current position:Lead pastor developer
Please tell us a little bit about yourself as a Christian public leader:UT Knoxville, Southern Seminary - Non traditional worship designer and mission developer, lead developer for Shepherd of the Lake in Loudon TN and the FaithAlive! service at Faith Lutheran in Knoxville, full time called pastor for Lutheran Campus Ministry in Atlanta
Please tell us a little bit about yourself as a mentor of students:I love the process of developing talent that doesn't really fit in the norms of the Lutheran church. I love getting to see creativity and ideas take life rather than be squashed by the "we've always done it this way" mentality. I am intentional and hands on however, I give the students lots of space to grow and define their own identity.
