What is your congregation or nonprofit organization all about:Mission: An intimate Christian community, witnessing to the larger dimensions of life in Christ, in ministry on the inward and outward journey.
Values: According to our shared values we will go about work in a way that is . . .
• Intimate: We are not seeking to be a large church, rather a community of people who are woven together
• Creative: We are called to co-create with God in ways of making things new.
• Progressive: We seek to discern the new directions toward which God’s future calls the church.
• Authentic: We will choose what is real over what appears to be real.
• Eclectic: We will embrace differences between us.
• Efficient: We will seek to keep things simple over complication.
• Relational: We will choose truthful, gracious and loving ways of relating over passive aggressive, self-serving or coercive behaviors.
Please tell us a bit about your site:Under the guidance of the Spirit, following the way of Jesus, and through our contribution, Hamline Church seeks to be a community that practices:
o Hospitality: We will invite and welcome others into our live together.
o Beauty: In worship and through the arts we will reflect the glory and beauty of God.
o Christian learning and practice: We seek to be formed into the image of God through learning and the practices of the Christian life
o Gift-based ministry: We will seek to discover and employ the giftedness of each of our members.
o Service: We seek to continue the work of Jesus in service and mission to the world.
Please tell us what a student can learn at your site:This site is a great opportunity to lead about congregations in transition, reconciling ministry, connecting to the mission field, renewal and revitalization. The church is blessed with a beautiful building, but it also is a limitation in some ways. We are also challenged to grow into greater relationship with our Hamline University neighbors and our neighbors in Hamline-Midway.
