Site Information - [THIS SITE IS FULL]

Site keywords:Christ the King is a medium-sized suburban congregation that deeply values worship, music, intergenerational ministries and mission (both local and global).
What is your congregation or nonprofit organization all about:CTK's size allows for strong participation and relationships between members. They're also continually searching for ways to impact the community.
Please tell us a bit about your site:CTK began as a mission start congregation in White Bear Lake in 1960. Their vision is to be a strong intergenerational congregation that walks with the community. Our past youth director is now an MDiv student at Luther!
Please tell us what a student can learn at your site:A student would find a host of opportunities including preaching, teaching, leading worship, working with all ages, and exploring mission opportunities. Our mission work is focused on Tanzania and hunger issues. We're exploring mission, evangelism and our place in the community. A student would have a chance to walk with us as we revisit our vision and do strategic planning in the next year. CTK experienced significant conflict 8 years ago but has worked hard to heal and move forward with much success.

Mentor Information: Jennifer Hackbarth

Current position:Lead Pastor
Please tell us a little bit about yourself as a Christian public leader:I graduated from Luther Seminary in 2003 and did rural ministry for several years before being called to Christ the King in 2008. I've been a solo pastor for most of my 10 years of ordained ministry. I received a certificate in Pastoral Leadership and Administration through Augsburg College, was an HB Hanson Preaching Fellow, participated in the SHAPE Leadership Program for female pastors and have been accepted into two writing workshops at the Collegeville Institute. I find it crucial to continue my education through reading, classes and connecting with other pastors and leaders.

My goals at Christ the King include helping the congregation update their vision, encouraging evangelism and connecting with the community, and fostering a congregational culture that experiments and embraces play and fun.
Please tell us a little bit about yourself as a mentor of students:My leadership style is thoughtful and collaborative. I see myself at a servant of the congregation, making room to lift up their gifts, coaching them through tough decisions and discussions and learning together. I will provide a student with direction but lots of freedom to explore and try different areas of ministry. Experience is the best teacher, and that's what I hope to provide.
