Autobiography:In 1989 I was ordained an Itinerant Elder in the African Methodist Episcopal Church. I began my pastoral ministry at St. Mark A.M.E. Church in Duluth, Minnesota, becoming the first women to be appointed a pastor from the A.M.E. church in the state of Minnesota. My ministry also included working as a Chaplain in the hospital setting. I completed four units of Clinical Pastoral Education while on staff at Fairview Hospital. During this process I recognized my interest and abilities in supporting people in crises. I began working as a chaplain for the Minnesota Department of Corrections in 1995 and was appointed to St James church in March of 2003. Over the past 7 years I have served both appointments. I have a Master's degree in Christian Education with a youth ministry emphasis from Bethel Seminary in St Paul, Mn. I have taken a few courses at Luther Seminary when time permitted. It is my hope to complete a Master of Divinity at some point.
I read every night and presently I am finishing up a book on the soical media and the Gospel. Over the summer I read Rick Warren's book, the Purpose Driven Church.
I am involved with a number of community organizations, including: The Longfellow community council and Business Association. The Welcome Home Advisory committee assisting offenders to re-enter their home community, A.M.E. Pastor's group, Stair Step foundation Elder's council and the Chicago Conference Women in Ministry organization.
I enjoy music and the arts. I especially love spending time with family and friends. I am the mother of two adult sons.
