Please join us for an enriching tour of the Reformation sights and sounds in Germany, Oct. 22-Nov. 2. Professional local tour guides will lead and teach us as we discover Reformation treasures in image and music, preparing us for the 500th anniversary of this world-changing event.
This tour is organized by two Luther Seminary staff members: Paul Daniels, head of arts and archives; and Mary Steeber, coordinator of volunteer programs.
We will visit several sites on this tour, including Leipzig and Erfurt. In Leipzig, we will visit the Gothic St. Nicholas Church, where the people of Leipzig first organized the demonstrations that brought hundreds of thousands into the streets for the Peaceful Revolution in 1989. We will also enjoy a guided tour at the Bachhouse Museum and the Motet with the famous St. Thomas Boys Choir at the 14th century St. Thomas Church, where Luther once preached.
In Erfurt, we will take a city tour in the footsteps of Martin Luther, see the university district where Luther studied and visit St. Mary’s Cathedral, where he was ordained. We will also tour the Augustinian Monastery, where Luther took his monastic vows and lived as a monk. Dinner in Erfurt is planned at a local restaurant with typical Thuringian food.
Other stops planned on the tour include Eisenach, Weimar and Wittenburg. To see the full itinerary, visit us online. We hope you will consider joining us for this incredible trip! If you have questions, please contact Paul Daniels at pdaniels@luthersem.edu or 651-641-3205.
