In December, Working Preacher completes its ninth year of being a trusted source for preachers around the globe.
Working Preacher is a ministry made possible by Luther Seminary and generously funded by individual donors like you. The Working Preacher team believes that God uses good biblical preaching to change lives.
Since it launched in December 2007, Working Preacher has published more than 3,000 text commentaries, 1,000 articles, 800 podcasts, 350 videos and weekly discussion questions, all with insights that can lead to better biblical preaching.
The site features contributions from more than 400 biblical scholars, homileticians, theologians and pastors to provide timely, compelling and trustworthy content.
The site also supplies weekly commentaries for growing communities of Narrative Lectionary and Spanish-language preachers.
What you won’t find on Working Preacher is someone else’s sermons, sermon outlines or illustrations. The site’s goal is to foster better preaching, so that God’s Word in Scripture comes alive with every sermon.
The site’s audience continues to grow. Traffic to the site has increased by 14 percent overall in the past year*, including:
- more than 3.63 million sessions on Working Preacher by 1.6 million users located in 230 countries and territories
- more than 236,000 sessions by Spanish-language users (a 26 percent increase)
- a 38 percent increase in the number of sessions from mobile devices
Your gift to Working Preacher supports quality biblical preaching and learning by ensuring that resources such as Working Preacher, the Narrative Lectionary, and other Luther Seminary initiatives like Enter the Bible and God Pause reach church leaders wherever they serve.
Donors can request a link to download the e-book, “Preaching Year A with Anna Carter Florence,” which features essays for the coming Revised Common Lectionary year. The collection, edited by Karoline Lewis, is available in several digital formats including PDF.
