On May 20, at Central Lutheran Church in Minneapolis, 175 students proudly walked to the front of the sanctuary to collect their diplomas during Luther Seminary’s 143rd Commencement. Karoline Lewis, the Alvin N. Rogness Chair of Homiletics, was the commencement speaker and President Richard Bliese presided.
Master of Divinity candidate Peter Christ spoke on behalf of the graduating class. During the ceremony, several graduates were recognized for academic excellence. They included:
- G.M. & Minnie Bruce Award in New Testament, presented to Reed Carlson and Peter N. McLellan
- A.E. Hanson Prize in Homiletics, presented to Kari Aanestad, Jeanette Clark and Eustacio Dominguez-Chavez
- John Milton Prize in Old Testament, presented to Reed Carlson
- Graduate Preaching Fellowship, presented to Peter Speiser
- The Children, Youth and Family Prize, presented to Karen Marie Gieseke
- David W. Preus Servant Leadership Award, presented to Laura C. Martin
