In “From Monks and Bells to Apps and Notifications,” Christianity Today reviewed “The Congregation in a Secular Age: Keeping Sacred Time Against the Speed of Modern Life” by Professor Andrew Root, Carrie Olson Baalson Chair of Youth and Family Ministry. The reviewer, Chris Nye, wrote that Root “achieves something quite remarkable” in his latest book. In Nye’s words, “Root, a ministry professor at Luther Seminary, places two issues—speed and secularism—at the center of our current cultural weariness. But the solutions he offers are anything but simplistic.”
