The good news of Jesus Christ has for centuries been shared around the world in and through Christian communities and the face to face witness of ordinary folks who share how God is at work in their communities. At Luther Seminary, educating leaders who bear witness to the Good News is central to our identity.
The seminary’s capacity for fulfilling our educational mission continues to grow, in large part thanks to the tremendous generosity of a strong donor base and because of the collaborative partnerships we have across local, national, and global church bodies. Working with a variety of innovative thought leaders helps ensure our curriculum successfully educates a range of leaders for traditional and emerging expressions of church. And earlier this month, the Board of Directors approved a balanced budget for the 2026-2027 fiscal year.
This spring, signs of God’s presence and abundance have been on full display in our community. Large and small moments of connection and processes of growth are pointing to bigger realities for the seminary:
- Gathering with the entire community every Wednesday for eucharist and every Thursday for Lunch Church are times of testimony to who God is in bread and wine, water and word
- Gathering each month to “Brake Bread” events where we break bread and share stories and memories of the current campus to help us prepare for upcoming campus transitions
- Fostering hopeful imagination through tours of potential sites for our new campus
- This weekend, honoring and celebrating nearly 100 graduates as they cross the stage at commencement and move into new and exciting ministries around this country and the globe.
The good news for us today as people in transition is that God is exactly where God has promised to be—on the journey with us. In the midst of the many complexities we face in serving a mission that is bigger than any one of us, we are continually reminded that God is here in the midst of this journey.
Your faithful witness in our many communities are signs to us of God’s blessings among us and of the Spirit’s abundant movement in the church. Thank you.
Peace,
Robin Steinke
