The work of the Presidential Search Committee moves into its final stages this month. Over 80 applications, nominations and referrals were received in response to the invitation for applications in late December. The prospect pool included distinguished Lutheran leaders from across the nation.
The Committee began screening prospects in January. A group of five semifinalists was interviewed in March from which three finalists were selected for additional conversation in April. Extensive reference work has been completed and continues and a personnel consultant is assisting in the assessment of the finalists. The Committee expects to complete its work and present a nominee to the Boards of Directors and Trustees meeting in joint session at their regularly scheduled meeting on May 2.
Hundreds of people have assisted in the process both in assessing the leadership needs and priorities of the Seminary prior to the search and in suggesting and evaluating candidates in the course of the search. Most important, the entire process has been facilitated and upheld by the regular intercessions of thousands of people across the Church who are committed to the mission of the Seminary and the ministry of the Gospel. We continue our work in the confidence that God will call a faithful and effective leader to this office.
Sincerely,
Paul Dovre
Chair, Presidential Search Committee
