On September 26, Luther Seminary will welcome eminent New Testament scholar and beloved Professor Emeritus Craig Koester ’80 M.Div. to deliver the 2026 Fretheim Lecture in Biblical Theology titled “The Death of Jesus and the Message of Life According to John.” Known especially for his groundbreaking work on Hebrews, Revelation, and John as well as for his sweeping and perennially popular course, Genesis to Revelation, Koester continues to contribute broadly to discussions of Scripture in the academy and the church. Koester previously taught at Luther Seminary for over 35 years. The Terence E. and Faith L. Fretheim Lecture in Biblical Theology series was established to provide Luther Seminary and surrounding communities with access to biblical-theological scholarship by prominent biblical scholars and theologians
