Lloyd Svendsbye, 1930-2014
Former Luther Seminary president Dr. Lloyd Svendsbye, ’54, died on Sunday, March 2, in Edina, Minn., surrounded by family and friends. He was 83.
AGORA at GMI: Change, change and more change!
We live in a time of many and massive migrations. These migrations are dramatically impacting large cities and rural areas around the world. Close to home, Minnesota’s foreign-born population rose from 2.6 percent in 1990 to 7.3 percent in 2011. More than 400,000 recent immigrants live in Minnesota today. The St. Paul Public School district has students from families speaking more than 70 languages.

Celebration of Biblical Preaching tells the story
On Oct. 1-3, pastors and lay leaders assembled at Luther Seminary for the Celebration of Biblical Preaching. This year’s theme, Preaching the Story, explored how to best preach the old, old story for a new day and age. Speakers talked about the challenge of preaching the good news with courage, creativity and confidence.
